Today’s Gold Nugget: PROVISION
One of my all-time favorite movies, “What about Bob?”, with Bill Murray and Richard Dreyfuss. It is the story of Leo Marvin, a psychiatrist (Richard Dreyfus), and his patient Bob Wiley (Bill Murray) who has multiple dysfunctions. One of them is personality dependency. I love this part where he says, “Gimme, Gimme! I Need, I Need!”
We can all identify with this because we all are needy people. Some have more needs than others. The beauty of the human race is that we were created for community. In other words to help and provide for each other’s needs. This extends to the whole world. Whether it is family matters, learning schools, businesses, social services, scientific research, governments, international interests, intelligence agencies, discoveries, inventions, etc. we all need each other, we cannot do it alone.
Not only do we need each other, but we also need God, our Creator: He is the ultimate need provider. He is Jehovah Jireh. The first time the phrase “The Lord will provide!” is mentioned, was when Abraham had to sacrifice his son Isaac. God heard his words and provided a way of escape, a ram in the bush. Your Heavenly Father loves to give and provide for His children. Just as a good dad would.
So today, whatever your need is, turn to the Lord for provision. Ask and you will receive. Just like you would ask a friend for a favor. Ask the Lord for a favor and when He asks you for one, just do it. And round and round we go.
Do you know that it brings glory to God when you ask Him for things you really desire? So, what do you desire in the area of your finances, your relationships, your health, your career/business, recreation/vacation, personal possessions, etc.?
So, what do you want? No really, what do you really want?
Here are some beautiful promises to show you the Lord wants to be involved in giving you a fulfilled and abundant life. Not only does He provide for your needs, but He desires mostly to fulfill your wants.
